For this exceptional residential commission in the heart of Holland Park, T&V Architects were entrusted with the transformation of a historically significant building into a private residence of the highest order. The brief was as exacting as it was clear: honour the architectural legacy of the existing structure without compromise, while delivering a home of contemporary comfort and quiet luxury — one that carries the authority of its period without being imprisoned by it.
LIVING AND DINING ROOMS —
Warmth Introduced, History Retained
The reception rooms of The Lansdowne House occupied the principal floor of a Haussmann-influenced stucco-fronted building of considerable presence. T&V Architects responded with a palette of warm stone, herringbone oak, and deep forest tones — materials that feel entirely at home within period walls while projecting a quietly contemporary sensibility.
Original cornicing, panelling, and the weight of the period detailing were all preserved and woven into a new interior narrative that feels inevitable rather than compromised. Steel-framed glazed partitions were introduced to allow light to move freely through the enfilade of rooms without interrupting the architectural sequence.

Material Standards, Uncompromised
The kitchen at The Lansdowne House was conceived as a room of material consequence. A monolithic island in book-matched Green Quartzite anchors the room, its geological complexity counterpointed by the precision of brushed brass hardware throughout.
T&V Architects maintained direct relationships with exclusive Italian suppliers to source stone of sufficient quality — a standard the practice upholds across every project at every scale. The result is a kitchen that earns its place in a house of this character.
DESIGN APPROACH & METHODOLOGY —
