Lorenzo Vianello

IUAV and AA MArch (RIBA, ARB)

Lorenzo Vianello graduated in architecture in Italy in 2005. From 2005 to 2009 he collaborated with several firms, including OMA, Studio Fuksas and UNStudio. From 2009 to 2011 he deepened his research, attending the Design Research Laboratory programme at the Architectural Association. Here he was guided by tutor Patrik Schumacher, partner at Zaha Hadid Architects, during the development of his final thesis. The theme of the thesis was a proto-tower, a system of algorithms that generates projects of high-rises with optimized properties for different environments and functional programmes.
Lorenzo worked at Foster+Partners joining the Apple Stores Innovation Team and the in-house Workplace Consultancy Team.

At the latter, he specialized in office space planning from the analysis to the implementation of strategies. During this experience, he developed algorithmic tools for generating efficient floor layouts. Lorenzo had been lecturing at the Architectural Association, Oxford Brookes University, London South Bank University, Inchbald School of Design, University of Kent and Southeast University (China). Currently, he works as a Design Director at London-based practice T&V Architects and as a guest critic at the University of Kent.
