Evolution Canopy

The ‘Evolution Canopy’ is a system of folded elements, which creates and connects spaces. The organic form is generated by a system of digital algorithms which adapts to the context. The system defines the bifurcations and depths of the folds, in order to achieve structural stability. Then it generates joints and openings along the creases. As each of the timber elements had to be manufactured individually different, a CNC milling process was utilized. The canopy defines an inhabitable space using sustainable materials and the aid of digital technologies.
